Q: Why work with a health and lifestyle coach?
A: Health coaching is a self empowered approach to support you and/or your organisation to improve health, lifestyle changes and wellbeing that achieves long lasting results. It's not short term fixes and sticky plasters, it's about defining clear goals and securing outcomes that can be sustained now and in the future.
Modern society has created an increase of people living with rising levels of stress related concerns and lifestyle health conditions. Lifestyle health concerns are often within our control to improve but it’s also very hard to tackle alone, particularly when you are exhausted just coping with daily life. There is a huge amount of information out there which can be overwhelming, even conflicting and ultimately makes managing our health challenging, confusing and more difficult than ever before. Rather than getting caught in a constant cycle of challenge and declining health why not try reaching out to a health and lifestyle coach who can help you.
Do you know that 70% of your immune system is aligned to your gut health. Would you have thought to focus on your gut health to improve your resistance to fight infections?

Do you know that 61% of the population is now living with chronic illness and that according to the Office of National Statistics. Following the pandemic, the data shows that respiratory conditions are now higher than mental health illness, although both remain within the top four reasons for sickness absence from work.

The UK population is trying to live and work with increasing health and lifestyle conditions and the traditional methods of support are just not working well enough to turn the tide.

At Changing Lane we believe in connecting all the aspects of you - your mind, body and lifestyle to help us join all the pieces together. You do not live separately with stress or ill health in a box, it often creates other illnesses and impacts all aspects of our daily life. For example, if you regularly have poor sleep it impacts your lifestyle choices due to tiredness. You can't separate one part of our health this way and/or take a pill for one thing and assume it fixes everything. We are humans with many parts that make up who we are and how we are.
When you receive health coaching you are in control of the decisions and actions you take, with the guidance and support of the health coach as a non-judgmental partner. Sometimes you might know what you need to do but struggle to sustain the commitment without support. Other times you have no idea how to improve your situation and feel like you are going round and round in circles without progress.

Q: How much does the individual cost?
A: The cost can vary as the service is personally designed for you and it depends on your needs. It's similar to using a counsellor, personal trainer, physio or osteopath. It depends on what you want to achieve and how long that takes. We can tailor the plan together to suit your needs but the most popular option includes regular online coaching sessions spread over a period of a few months. To find out more please view the You Plan Brochure.

Q: How frequently can I have a coaching session?
A: It depends on what you are trying to achieve but most of the time clients prefer a regular pattern of coaching sessions. For example a coaching session every two weeks or once a month, with a check in between the sessions to see how things are going. It really depends on what you are looking to achieve.

The nature of lifestyle coaching means it’s highly unlikely you can resolve your concerns that have built up over time in one or two sessions. Therefore, a regular programme of support is far more likely to produce success and lasting results.

Q: How does the Workplace Wellness programme work?
A: Workplace Wellness starts with a deep dive approach into the organisation, reviewing the existing wellbeing approach and impact. Phase one typically includes online meetings with a representative of the organisation to better understand the nuances of the business and preferred outcomes. The research may extend to other contributions from other colleagues, leaders and/or front line staff. Based upon the assessment and findings the appropriate recommendations will be proposed.

The cost of the initial Workplace Wellness assessment depends on the size of the organisation, the organisations current position on their wellbeing journey, the extent of the assessment (number of staff involved, one site or multiple locations etc.) and the preferred outcomes. During the discovery call the parameters will be explored and based upon the discussion a written proposal can be provided.

After a Workplace Wellness assessment has been commissioned and delivered, Phase two can offer a number of next steps which could include the following ideas (not an exhaustive list) :
-
preparing a wellbeing strategy, key measures and how to assess progress
-
a review and guidance of how to embed wellness in the culture, employee proposition and values
-
build a suite of wellbeing resources
-
hold regular webinars to share best practice with staff and leaders
-
online group coaching sessions on themes such as how to improve sleep, responding to stress and building resilience
-
individual health coaching sessions with a staff member
-
leadership development to enhance wellbeing skills and how to have sensitive and difficult conversations

A separate proposal and associated costs for phase two can be provided before commissioning this option.

Q: Can I purchase phase one or phase two of the Workplace Wellness programme separately?
A: Yes. Phase one and two are offered separately, although the significant benefits come from adopting both phases. It depends on the current situation and skill level in the organisation. A proposal and recommendations will be provided but essentially each phase can be independently commissioned if applicable.

Q: Can you provide prescriptions or medical diagnosis?
A: No. A health and lifestyle coach cannot prescribe or diagnose a medical condition. If it's helpful to work with other medical professionals, with your consent, we can do this. It may also be better for you to seek medical support before starting coaching. Sometimes we can establish this as part of the discovery call. Please find a link to the scope of practice for health coaching here.
